We operate in the unique environment of the Porvoo archipelago, where nature and the Gulf of Finland are not only the basis of our livelihood, but also matters of our hearts. We want to take responsibility for this precious environment and ensure that our operations continue to support sustainable development and the well-being of nature in the future.<\/p>\n

Nature and the Baltic Sea first<\/p>\n

Responsible use and protection of water
We ensure that all our wastewater treatment systems are modern and in line with the requirements for the protection of the Baltic Sea. We also favour biodegradable cleaning agents and avoid chemicals that can harm sensitive island habitats.<\/p>\n

Respect for ecosystems<\/p>\n

We maintain the natural environment of our farms and support local projects that promote biodiversity in the archipelago.
Responsible procurement and energy use
From the very beginning, we have created an environment where sustainable development values are present in our daily work. However, we are aware that the sustainability journey is one of continuous learning and improvement.<\/p>\n

Improving energy efficiency<\/p>\n

Our goal is to complete the development projects on heat recovery and energy optimisation. This will reduce energy consumption and support the transition towards carbon neutrality.<\/p>\n

Responsible transport solutions<\/p>\n

We aim to phase out internal combustion engine vehicles from our operations, but recognise that the availability of suitable replacement technologies is still a challenge. We will continue to actively explore and pilot sustainable alternatives.<\/p>\n

Local and ecological choices
We use mainly local and organic products, especially island delicacies, to support local entrepreneurs and reduce emissions from transport.<\/p>\n

Energy efficiency and renewable energy
We use energy-efficient solutions on our premises and a large part of our energy comes from renewable sources, such as geothermal heat.
Promoting environmental awareness
Education and communication<\/p>\n

We provide our customers with information about the uniqueness of the Porvoo archipelago and tips for responsible tourism. In addition, our staff are trained in environmentally friendly practices.<\/p>\n

Cooperation and commitment<\/p>\n

We work closely with local communities and stakeholders to strengthen the vitality of the Porvoo archipelago and the sustainability of tourism.<\/p>\n

The “Habitability” project<\/p>\n

We are involved in the ‘Habitability of Em\u00e4salo, Vess\u00f6 and Pelling’ project, which supports the sustainable development of the archipelago’s communities and lays the foundations for long-term cooperation.<\/p>\n

Local initiatives and networks<\/p>\n

Collaborative projects between the Summer Market and the Village Hall highlight local expertise and promote economic sustainability. We are building a network of entrepreneurs in the area, which will increase the competitiveness and stability of the whole region.<\/p>\n

We continue to actively cooperate with other local actors and environmental organisations to protect the Baltic Sea and the archipelago’s nature.
The aim of the Kokouspoukama is to be an example of how events can be organised in harmony with nature.
We believe that every sustainable act, large or small, is a step towards a more vibrant future, both here in the Porvoo archipelago and on the planet.<\/p>\n

Towards a carbon neutral approach<\/p>\n

We aim to create annual action plans that build on the achievements of the previous year. This step-by-step development work is aimed at a carbon-neutral operating model that can serve as an example for other Finnish companies.<\/p>\n

The commitment of our management, staff and subcontractors to these targets is crucial. We want to leave a legacy of a sustainable and responsible operating environment that combines successful business, support for local communities and environmental well-being.<\/p>\n

We have started to monitor the environmental impacts and damage of our operations. This information will help us to make more detailed plans to ensure a successful business while ensuring the best experience for our guests and minimising our impact on the local environment. In this way, we adapt our operations to the impacts of climate change and do not overburden nature with excessive numbers of tourists. In this way, we ensure that we leave our environment more sustainable for future generations.<\/p>\n

Economic sustainability is the cornerstone of all this. Together with local residents and entrepreneurs in the surrounding area, we are working to create a network that, together with our partners, will make us a reliable and financially stable operator. This will include a plan to support the local environment<\/p>\n

It is the responsibility of the company’s management, its staff and all subcontractors to ensure that these measures are implemented.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
